(our songs of the week will now actually be “songs of the week” so check back weekly for this feature….yup. check back daily for tons of other cool shit.)
This week’s song of the week comes from Cashiers, NC from an electronic duo called VIA. We’re streaming their song “Restoring Red.” Its a pretty rad song and definitely made me want to take a listen to what else they have going on. Their songs undoubtedly have a certain similar sound contributed to them, for better or for worse, but I think they have a ton of potential. Karen Austin on vocals is nothing short of awesome, talented and powerful with her range; forward even. The tunes are dreamy with a mythical feel. I’d say good drug music. Take a listen…
From the band – about the song: “This song, Restoring Red, is about having the courage to face ourself and begin healing and restoring life to all we’ve bled and still bleed dry, as a result of our own hurt and disregard for another’s life.”

Vs 1: My turn to grow past a picture/draw new lines
Past time to make lust and fiction for a sign.
This time I’ll ride a spark and burn up with the flames,
To let the ashes fall, and rise, rise again
Pre-chorus: Needles bled to colorblind
Fingers spread to cover sight
Chorus: Embracing truth from white
Admitting black on ice
Restoring red to all we bled
Vs 2: Smile. These beauty days
Love. It makes a pretty face
Hush with all that empty space.
Looks can kill an honest phrase.
Pre-chorus: Needles bled to colorblind.
Fingers spread to cover sight.
Chorus: Embracing truth from white
Admitting black on ice
Restoring red to all we bled
Bridge: Instrumental
Chorus: Embracing truth from white
Admitting black on ice
Restoring red to all we bled
Bio from the band: VIA is a rock/electronica duo from Cashiers, NC. Combined with their bass-heavy, beat-laden, soaring music and hauntingly anthemic vocals, VIA is setting out to create a movement of inner healing, compassion, and living via love.
