“ØGLASS, a revolutionary ecosocial luxury fashion company that produces and sells products made in zerowaste processes.
The ØGLASS social mission is to provide mentoring and rehabilitation to women recovering from sexual exploitation and addiction, through an apprenticeship program focused on fashion fashion and social entrepreneurship.
Finding solid, purposeful work is a huge challenge for those in recovery. Many of the women in this position have criminal records for prostitution and illegal substance possession or sale.
Almost all work that aims to support those in recovery is service-industry related. Whereas ØGLASS believe in the power of creative, entrepreneurial work, providing apparel and accessories training, with a focus on the making and selling of purpose-drive products of exquisite quality.
ØGLASS appeals to the growing luxury consumer who values purpose-driven business alongside exquisite quality in fashion and art.
ØGLASS believes in treating all humanity with a dignity and respect that translates in to reverence for healing the earth, that we ourselves have contributed to the destruction of.
ØGlass is comprised of FOUR distinct collections:
- Øarchive – one-off pieces made in a series of 2-5 items, similar to fine art. Pieces are made from textile artifacts from a private global archive. Each piece in this collection has provenance and up to 150 hours of stitch work.
- Ø2 – Secondhand menswear, transformed in to gender-free pieces and augmented with feminine details through an upcycle process
- Øknit – Gender-free knitwear designed for a mindfulness-based lifestyle (mindfulness is foundational to the brand). Made from very fine cotton and cashmere globally certified in human and ecological safety.
- Øt –A gender-free line of 60-count organic cotton tee shirts featuring the work of local artists
The women behind the brand met at the Goat Farm arts center, an experimental art commune on the westside of Atlanta, where the brand’s studio is still located. ” (All information provided by Caroline K.)
