From Sara: ‘I wrote “Cyclone” when I was about 19, and it’s kind of become my anthem. It’s a song about trying to find a sense of self and strength in the midst of constant change. It’s always my favorite song to play at the beginning or end of a show, because I think it really sums up who I am and what my music is about – being honest with myself and others and expressing my experiences and emotions in the most sincere way that I can hoping that it will touch other people the way many artists have touched me.’
Lyrics: She said, “I don’t understand you,”
I said, “Not many people do,
But I hope they want to hear me play.”
My objective is security,
Fully accepting my body,
my soul, and I won’t heal these wounds today.
I know that I will never grow old.
And I will never be an object that wants to be sold.
I will spin around inside of my cyclone,
I will feel the earth beneath me,
And I will always be home.
I’m not sorry for what I feel,
I’m intense, and I am real,
And I never wanted to have you.
It seems the years are flying by,
And you will all leave me behind,
And I will never know what I’m supposed to do.
I know that I will never grow old.
And I will never be an object that wants to be sold.
I will spin around inside of my cyclone,
I will feel the earth beneath me,
And I will always be home.
The truth is I in fact rely
on the teardrops in my eye,
I need to break down to survive.
And I will never succumb
to the goal of feeling numb,
A stoic never really seems to be alive.
I know that I will never grow old.
And I will never be an object that wants to be sold.
I will spin around inside of my cyclone,
I will feel the earth beneath me,
And I will always be home.
She said, “I don’t understand you,”
I said, “Not many people do,
But I hope they want to hear me play.”?
