This is an audio interview from April of 2014…transcribed for reading…72nd and Central on FaCbOOk.
BeAtlanta – This is David with BeAtlanta.com and we are interviewing 72nd and Central from Greenville South Carolina. Could you guys tell us your names and what you play?
72nd and Central – Hey, what’s up! This is Chapman and I play guitar and sing. My name is Kylon and I play the drums. My name is Josh and I play the bass and sing.
BeAtlanta – Do you have an album out now?
72nd and Central – We do, we put out our debut self-titled album in September 2013. It is available for purchase and download at 72ndandcentral.bandcamp.com.
BeAtlanta – Did you record that in Greenville?
72nd and Central – We did. We recorded it at Three Big Guys studios which is run by Jared Burger from Signs Of Iris.
BeAtlanta – Did he master the album as well?
72nd and Central – It was actually mastered by Randy Garcia from R_Garcia at Ruby Sound Studios in Atlanta, GA.
BeAtlanta – Are you guys on tour right now?
72nd and Central – We are playing our last hometown show for a while in Greenville. We have got some good people playing with us, Bearknuckle from Atlanta and Canopy Culture from Florence SC.
BeAtlanta – Where will you be going after that?
72nd and Central – We are going to take it low in Greenville for a while. But, we have some shows like in Columbia and Athens coming up. Just really keeping it regional.
BeAtlanta – What is the recording process like for you?
72nd and Central – A lot of Josh and Kyl punching me in the face. Yay, that is pretty much it. We pretty much have ideas then we punch each other in the face for a while and then we do it better and then we listen to it and that is about it.
BeAtlanta – We noticed you guys had great feedback on stage. You would often signal to each other. Can you tell us what is going on with coordination?
72nd and Central – We are pretty much a jam band without being a jam band. We pretty much play until it comes together. We have been playing long enough together to kind of get that feeling when we know to drop out or come in together just with a look.
BeAtlanta – What happened to that Malayasa Flight?
72nd and Central – Aliens and unicorns man. The 72nd and Central World tour 2013 happened.
