Interview with the Founder of The Fusion Music Concert Series – Charlie Ahanotu of Planet Rawk + a song of the week from Planet Rawk – their new single “Hush”
This Wednesday, October 26th, will be the first show in the Fusion Music concert Series. This debut show will take place at Eastside Lounge and will showcase 3 local bands + a couple local DJs. Its only $5. We got the chance to ask Charlie of Planet Rawk a little bit about the concert series he founded and a bit about Planet Rawk and their new single.

B: When did you come up for the idea of starting a concert series promoting fusion music? What do you hope to accomplish with the series? I came up with the concert series when
I began to see alot of amazing music being showcased with bands like Sneaky Hand, Jungol, Tragedy Called Truth, Detroit Mutant Radio. I just think its amazing!!!! I am hoping that we can become bigger then Music Midtown.
B: What is fusion music?
Fusion music is when a band brings different elements of music to form a sound. I think it’s amazing when bands can do that.
B: Tell us a bit about who is performing at this 1st concert of the Fusion Music Concert Series.
Well, the opener is Verge Of Bliss. I met them at a BEatlanta party and I thought they were super cool. Tragedy Called Truth is the 2nd band, these guys are super close to being big. With elements of spoken word, hip hop, punk and progressive rock these guys have a sound like no other. And PlanetRAWK will be the 3rd act which is my band, one thing as a songwriter I try to merge different styles so I would say we are definitely a fusion on alternative rock, hip hop and electronic pop.
B: Anyone lined up for future shows…any dates lined up?
No dates for the next series but we are in talks with 4 sponsors to make it a outdoor event in the summer time. A couple bands that we have talked with about doing the 2nd series are Detroit Mutant Radio, The FountNHead, Stereomonster and Cusses.
B: You have some DJs playing this time around – tell us about them.
DJ Wolf is gonna be spinning, he plays in Strange Planet and also spins at BEatlanta parties, it’s gonna be a fun nite
B: PlanetRAWK just released a new single…can you tell us a bit about the single?
Yes, we just released our new single “Hush” off our debut album “The Coldest Summer Ever” and getting great responses from it. It’s mainly about me dealing with alot of issues, you can go to www.planetrock.bandcamp.com to get a copy of it, donate what you can to help us raise money for our tours and recording.

“I wrote Hush at a bad time in my life, my former band broke up, I was going through stuff personal and financially. Then it came a point of proving to people, that I am a force to be reckoned with, but at the same time in the song I share my fear to succeed.
