Album Review: Pillage and Plunder’s EP “Look Inside For The Prize”

Pillage and Plunders first EP “Look Inside For The Prize” is a rock pop ride that is reminiscent of something Weezer might do. The three piece band comprised of Gokul Parasuram and Hsiang-Ming Wen on Vocals, Guitar, Bass and Noah Kess on Drums offers up to us a musical treat that is fun to listen to and catchy enough to want to play over and over again. 3 out of 4 stars.
“Can You Hear It?”
A lively pop song at a fast pace with bass driven beginning that melts into a drum and guitar battle.
“Blue”
The melody of the vocals competes with that of the guitar to join in union into a great chorus. The inconsistency of the vocals over the melody really holds this one together.
“Naptime”
A raspy start turns quickly into a lullaby melody which amps up only smack you with something to shake your head at. At one point you may start to crave the off key vocals then a horn comes out of nowhere to really get you into the best jam on the EP.
“Love Song”
A poppy depressing love song (cliché but we give these guys thumbs up) and with a catchy guitar solo not one you want to dismiss.
“August Apple”
If you are not tapping your feet at this point get your shoes out of the concrete. A slow monotone start takes you on a rock pop journey fueled by all members of the band.
“The Artisan”
This one is in your face right from the get go. The song is like a fist that keeps getting pumped towards the sky.
