This band recently played the Masquerade and I thought they were pretty awesome. Check out the video above and this little profile provided by their promo folks…
A bit about the band: “Lionize, a tremendous band with a huge, arena-like sound that hearkens back to 70s-era psychedelic and prog rock are playing in Atlanta on Tuesday, April 10th at The Masquerade. The band, who was the first and only to play both Bonnarro and the Warped Tour in the same year (2011), has been touring non-stop the past several months in support of their most recent release, Superczar and the Vulture, which was produced by J. Robbins of Jawbox fame.
The group has garnered crtical acclaim from a wide variety of outlets including Alternative Press, High Times, Absolute Punk, Albuquerque Journal and Washington Times. In their over 7 years as a band together they’ve had members of Steel Pulse and Clutch guest on their albums, acted as the touring band for Lee “Scratch” Perry, and been tapped to open for such giants as Bad Brains, Galactic, Lucero and Streetlight Manifesto.”
Lionize on FaCeBOok – take a second and give them a “like.”
“Lionize certainly deserve to be huge more than any other rock act out there.” – Sputnik Music
“Bow-worthy, bass-drenched boogie-dub with off-kilter lyrics that would make Neil Fallon double-check his notes for potential copyright infringement while the members and ex-members of bands like Bad Brains and the Clash—and even classic rockers like Canned Heat and Savoy Brown—shake their heads and wish they’d thought of that.” – Alternative Press
