Judah & the Lion Releases First single and Video – ‘Rich Kids’ –
Band Plays Atlanta’s The masquerade on October 4th!
Touring in Support of Debut album Kids These Days, due out on September 9th!
Nashville based trio Judah & the Lion is thrilled to share the first single and video from their debut album with the world this week!
The album, Kids These Days, is their debut studio full-length and it’s due out on September 9th via Good Time Records. The album was recorded in Nashville this past March with the incredibly talented Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson) producing and they enlisted Pete Lyman (Best Coast, Jason Isbell, Ben Harper) to master. The result is 11 honest heartfelt songs that capture the passion and youthful spirit of the three founding members – Judah Akers, Brian Macdonald and Nate Zuercher.
Brian shared his enthusiasm for finally sharing the video with the world: “Tie your shoes tight, put on your seatbelt, and call your Mom, before I do! We’ve got songs to share with you, about life, fun, and love. The ‘Rich Kids’ music video gives a good smörgåsboard of our adventures, friends, and general love of life.” Nate also chimed in on getting the songs out there and on why “Rich Kids” is the first song they decided to share: “We’ve been sitting on these songs for months and I’m stoked that people can hear them now. ‘Rich Kids’ is a great representation of the record in its high energy and youthful spirit. We just want to have fun and this song is that.”
Judah & the Lion originally came to be in 2011. The three members met through mutual friends when Judah – guitar, lead vocals – was looking for a banjo player to write music with him. He was introduced to Nate who plays banjo and Brian who plays mandolin and the three hit it off immediately. While coming from somewhat different backgrounds mostly thanks to geography – Judah is from Tennessee, Nate is from Colorado and Brian is from Illinois – the three discovered that they not only shared a love of music but also shared similar values and belief systems which made their initial bond even stronger.
The band is ready to move into the next part of their journey with the release of Kids These Days. “It’s been a weird thing to hold on to these new songs for so long,” Judah said this week. “We are used to the record it and show it mentality so it feels amazing having ‘Rich Kids’ out! My momma is happy too.” The band will embark on a big US headlining tour this fall, check out full dates below
