Carnivores recently returned from a relentless tour stint that started on October 16th. The tour took them up the East Coast until they reached NY, then back to Atlanta and up the East Coast again. They even side swiped it and took it up to Vancouver…in Canada. Then across the top over to Washington state to Portland and then back to back to back shows up and down California. No doubt an amazing trip and a talented group doing their thing coming from Atlanta. All this after being featured in the NY times (not your go to music source but a great feat none the less) and now releasing a split 7″ on a UK label…just out on Monday, December 13th 2010, with a band called Dinosaur Feathers. The 7″ features a new single titled Dress for the Rain. All this not even mentioning the 12″ LP, If I’m Ancient, released just a few months ago. Its easy to tell that Carnivores are on fire.
…and the tour is only on a break…
Jan 17, 2011- ATL – 529 w/ Weird Wives, Lyonnais, Shepherds
Jan 26, 2011 – Orlando FL – The Social
Jan 28, 2011 – Delray Beach FL – Dada
Jan 29, 2011 – Miami FL – Churchills
Jan 30, 2011 – St. Petersburg FL – The Local 662
Feb 4, 2011 – ATL – Drunken Unicorn w/ Ted Leo and The Pharmacists, Gentleman Jesse and His Men
..and then, who knows…but in the meantime I threw some questions on the tour and the new material the band’s way…
B: How was Vancouver? Have you played there before? Anything noticeably different about the way they do things?
Never played there till now, it snowed, and they have looneys and tooneys. Lovely people, lots of crack heads like Atlanta, also have the same party stamina. We felt right at home.
B: You spent a lot of time in California…what was your favorite place to play out there?
Kxlu in LA, our pal Molly Shelton has a show we played that streamed video and audio online. It was really rad.
B: What was your favorite show of the tour?
Chicago, super rad DIY joint called The Ball Hall.
B: Who was your favorite band you got to play with?
Brain idea, my friend wallis, and lens.
B: How was Thanksgiving in Hollywood?
Ritzy surreal, I stole a brick from Aldous Huxleys house.
B: Ya’ll just releases your second album “If I’m Ancient,” Have you had a good time playing the new material on tour?
Yes but were always looking to the future.
B: Anything you want folks to know about your upcoming split 7″ or your upcoming show in Atlanta? Any closing thoughts?
