The Ponce De Leon Beer Festival was a blast. This was my first beer festival and it did not disappoint. There were many many good beers from many different breweries, good food trucks and good music (Adron). Lauren (my wife) and I got VIP tickets so we had early access as well as entry into the VIP section with VIP only beers. All of the beers were amazing, save a few sours (not my thing), and I tried many beers I had never tried before; and many beers you’ll never get to try :)-
Our favorite beer (by far) of the day was the VIP beer from Wrecking Bar Brewpub…Siberius Maximus RIS. This beer is amazing and attacks your taste buds with everything you want from a beer: full, far ranging flavor, strong, very spicy, full body, etc. Its brewed right down the street in Little Five Points at the Wrecking Bar Brewpub. I’ve since learned its a local favorite at festivals and the brewpub. I was told they brew it every so often and it rarely lasts more than 2 hours at the brewpub when served (so make larger batches right? – Cause I want some more!).
Here is a pic of the list of VIP beers….
The venue was great and perfectly large enough for the size of the festival. The lines were incredibly short as the variety of breweries and beers was quite vast. There was a nice selection of food trucks and the whole event went down very beautifully. I will definitely go next year and highly recommend the festival. Here are some pics of the beers featured. I think we tried everyone one of them.
Some other highlights: Monks Mead (+ their special brew just for the festival whose name I can’t recall), Monday Night Fu Man Brew, Twains, Moon River, so many more…
