Festival Review: 1st annual Shaky Beats (May 2016) :: Day 1

We’re a little late getting this review posted but if you’re wondering about the festival and/or thinking about going next year then this is your spot.
 
I want to start by saying, this festival experience was amazing and when the Sunday evening sunset stared me in the face, I was so sad to know it was almost over! I enjoyed every moment. From the cool people and artists I was able to meet in the media room to being in the heart of the crowd enjoying the sounds that brightened up my day. So take your seats and read on. This was an incredible weekend in the city of Atlanta with an unexpected line up!

Loved Jai Wolf, Jai Raj Paul!!!! I couldn’t believe this amazing guy opened up the festival and didn’t have more of a headlining spot!!!! I was front and center at Jai Wolf at the Peachtree Stage, the main stage for Shaky Beats (http://www.shakybeatsfestival.com/ ). For the first day of a three day edm festival, the crowd was already lining up to see Jai Wolf ( https://soundcloud.com/jaiwolfmusic ) This humble and talented English producer, dj, recording artist, singer, songwriter, and producer from Rayners Lane, United Kingdom is signed to XL Recordings.
 
“Indian Summer” is such a feel-good song that set the mood for the entire festival.

I was super intrigued when I found out that Soulection (http://soulection.com/) is a music collection. “Founded in 2011 in Los Angeles, CA, Soulection is a global platform moving culture. With music as the foundation, Soulection exists to inspire a shift in passive consumption placing value on community, discovery, transparency, DIY growth and the artistry of music.” They had not one but three artist performing at Shaky Beats, (http://www.shakybeatsfestival.com/). 
 
 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
AllunaGeorge made me a fan today. As it started to rain on the first afternoon of Day 1, Shaky Beats (http://www.shakybeatsfestival.com/ )2016, I didn’t mind enjoying a little mother nature as I watched AllunaGeorge perform their heart out! The crowd jumped and danced and my ears were filled with the lighthearted sweet sounds if this English electronic music duo from London, Aluna Francis (vocals and songwriting) and George Reid (production and instrumentation).[1]

Duke Damont:
 
Dance is the only word to use when describing what I wanted to do when I listened to Duke Dumont, Adam George Dyment,  at the Peachtree stage!!  Duke Dumont, is an English DJ, producer and songwriter. Duke Dumont’s most popular singles include  “Need U (100%)”, “I Got U” and “Won’t Look Back” which both reached number one and 2 in the UK Singles Chart. He uses his record label Blasé Boys Club as an alias for production and has remixed several songs, including several which have charted in the United Kingdom in 2014. “Need U (100%)”, was nominated for “Best Dance Recording” for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards.

Really awesome group!  Between the electronic production and the live instruments, Zhu, Steven Zhu, was entertaining to watch. Loved the outfits!! Zhu is an electronic musician, record producer, and singer who has been active since the beginning of 2014 and is signed to ‘Mind of a Genius Records.’ His debut album Generationwhy is was released on in July 2016 via Mind of a Genius/Columbia Records. Where do I even begin!  Major Lazer is “an American electronic music band composed of record producer Diplo, Jillionaire, and Walshy Fire. It was founded by Diplo and Switch, but Switch left in 2011. Its music spans numerous genres, mixing EDM with reggae, dancehall,reggaeton, house, and moombahton.”
 
Major Lazer has released three full-length albums: “Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do in 2009”, “Free the Universe” in 2013, and “Peace Is the Mission” in 2015. They also released an EP entitled “Apocalypse Soon” in March 2014, which featured vocal contributions from Pharrell Williams and Sean Paul. Major Lazer also produced “Reincarnated”, the debut reggae album by Snoop Dogg under his “Snoop Lion” persona.” http://www.majorlazer.com/
  
Now that you know a little more about this pace-setting group, let’s talk about the performance at Shaky Beats (http://www.shakybeatsfestival.com/) closing out the first day!!
 
The Peachtree stage was packed beyond belief! Between the amazing dancers, the wardrobe changes and fire, Major Lazer put on a real show!!! So glad I was 10 feet from the stage and I had the pleasure of this experience.
