Jungol is an absolutely amazing band. Nuff said…but there is so much more. Beatlanta caught them last month at the Drunken Unicorn for what I can easily say was the most packed local show I’ve ever attended at the Drunken Unicorn…and with merit. I hear Jungol’s name more than any other as one of THE bands to see in Atlanta; and thats coming from the mouths of other musicians, in other active bands in Atlanta; and when you hear other musicians talking up a band, you tend to believe what they say. This remarkable trio has a sound much bigger than themselves…fusing a variety of elements and instruments into something almost too grand to believe, or understand. They recently release an EP titled “Places” (available from Itunes, CD baby and Amazon) that manages to do nothing less than captivate whoever has the pleasure to take a listen…?
Brothers Josh and Graham Yoder share the stage in equally incredible distinction, switching off on instruments, never allowing one to take more of the spotlight over the other. From what I read in other reviews and interviews, they give a great amount of value to the writing process, and it shows. Jason on drums adds the perfect amount of backbone to his intensely creative band mates and together, the three of them manage to pump out music that has only a few can create. Their creative process and ability shines through with exceptional brilliance and the music they make both inspires and provokes.
Jungol’s fan base grows by the day and I say with confidence that Jungol will be heading out of our great city one day, probably signed by a significant label. So be proud they call the ATL their home town and go see them live when you can.
Show them some respect and purchase their music. You can find them on myspace here. Their new website here. From there you can find them on twitter, Itunes, etc. Click here to see more pictures of Jungol at beatlanta.com
