First, come to beatlanta’s Halloween show tomorrow night. Find us on facebook for details. Dress up. Planet Rock, Mak Mifune and Sneaky Hand will be rocking the walls. Its free. BYOB. Free bottle to the best costume.
Then, on Saturday, go to the Sorry No Ferrari album release show at the Drunken Unicorn. You get their new album for free with entry. For those of us who know the band, we’ve been waiting a while for these guys to come back live. They’ve only played a couple shows this year due to them putting most efforts behind Ternary, their debut full length, and the album is amazing. If you haven’t heard of these guys then you’re in for a big fucking treat on Saturday, no tricks. Sorry No Ferrari are a progressive instrumental band that emit these monster of jams that often extend well past 7 minutes when played live and they’re known for just playing for 15-30 minutes straight when opening or closing their shows. Each song is layer upon layer of intricate and detailed calculation that just flows freely out of these guys. They’ll just make you smile with their music. Anyway, we’ll have more from the band up soon including a video interview, album review of “Ternary” and live footage from their album release show this coming Saturday. For now, I asked them a few questions about the show and album…
B: How long did it take to record the album? Who produced?
It’s been 3 years since our last release. We’ve been through two drummers in the process and wrote it during those transitions. We had a scheduling dilemma at our original studio the day before our first scheduled tracking date that pushed the whole process back a month. Because we changed studios we had to fit our dates into their schedule. The tracking process took about 3 – 4 months and we spent another 3 – 4 months mixing and editing. Bruce Butkovich at Open Sky Studios was our engineer, producer, and our savior. The album would have never been as great as it is without his involvement, we owe him….alot! There are guest appearances on the album by Eric Gunther (From Exile) and Mary Knight (former member: Tealights)
B: Are you guys playing the entire new album on Saturday?
Yes, we are. In fact there are so many extra parts on the album that we had to add a new member. We’re really happy to have him playing with us now!
B: Any thoughts about the show?
We can’t believe it’s finally happening. I know that sounds like bit cliché but it’s been a long, long time coming. We’re all really thrilled with the line up as well.
Here is a little album teaser…
Here is a video I got back in early 2009 with a little digital camera, at the 2nd show I ever attended for beatlanta. The video sucks and it doesn’t do them justice but you can hear it alright…
