Kate’s Club is a charity that helps children get through the death of a parent or sibling. I only learned of the charity after picking up a card I saw on a table at a local restaurant I visited last week. I did a bit of research and it seems like a really great cause that has helped a ton of children and families with a wide array of services, education and assistance; all free to the families being helped.

from Katesclub.org:
At just 12 years old, Kate Atwood lost her mother to cancer. Based on her childhood experience, she was inspired to help other children unite with their peers who shared a similar loss experience so they would know they were not alone in their grieving. Kate’s Club started in June 2003 with only six children, their families and an outing to a local bowling alley. Now nearly ten years later, we have touched the lives of more than 575 children and their families. We engage our members and over 100 volunteers each year in four main programs that provide social, recreational and emotional support to the children of Kate’s Club.
