Available locally at: Ale Yeah in Decatur
ABV: 7.3% | IBU: 26
Glassware: Goblet or Snifter
Appearance: Dark brown (looks like a darker coke), almost black, slight reddish tints
Scent/Aroma: malty, smoky with slight chocolate
Taste/Flavor: malty and spicy, slight sweetness
Body/Mouthfeel: slight carbonation with some spice, slight creaminess
First Taste: The first taste is smooth, malty with a slight smoky taste and you really notice the spice. Sweetness is there but after thought. This beer is really good but doesn’t stand out for me. Tastes similar to other beers I’ve had but is still very tasty. The level of smokines is nice and the malts seem like they’ve had a ton of care put into them. (from Monday Night Brewing: In a difficult hop-growing climate,Scottish brewers relied on other ingredients to impart flavor and bitterness – one such ingredient was smoked malt.)
Season: specifically Winter but Fall and all the time too
Food/Dessert: It is the dessert. You could eat with steak.
Scale: 6.8
