The Well Reds new album ‘Violet’ is a sonic masterpiece… Their sound reminds of the classic sounds of Train and Coldplay and even Muse. All of the elements are right, the singers are passionate, the drummer is chill, the song structures are tasteful. The album jams too!! ‘We’ll dance, dance around the subject… They’re gonna find us’, just some of the lyrics from the second track, Rebel Lovers, which also features some gnarly piano work. This album is a total hit, the kind you can throw in your CD player and rock around Atlanta for hours, just admiring our beautiful city.
This album blends the beautiful sounds of classical music, with the sound of alternative rock, in a pop kind of sensibility… These guys are in it to make you move your hips and tug at your heartstrings with their crooner singing style. They keep it going all night. The songs are mainly love songs, with a super romantic tilt. They will make you cry, especially if you are drinking. In fact, this is the perfect album to listen to after a good breakup, with alcohol involved. It is making me quite sad as I listen writing this. I love the chords they use too, it shows that these guys are real musicians, every one of them which just makes the album that much more solid. The guitars shimmer like stars in the night, giving the feel of a summer night pondering on a past lover..
This album has six songs, starting with ‘6 More Months’, a song about not losing a lover. ‘6 more months, then no more waiting, I’ll be home, I won’t be chasing, you…’ A song about gaining back that love in your life. A song about a meaningful love, that is worth waiting for and changing your ways for. Another favorite from the album for me is ‘Take it Back’, which starts with a mellow acoustic intro and an electric organ sound. This song is about taking back all of the things you have done and said to the person you love, and finding the inspiration inside to ‘Take it Back’. The singer sings so strongly that he takes it back, takes it all back, just to get back to that special person.
This album is definitely worth rocking in your stereo. You can find all 6 tracks from ‘Violet’ on Reverbnation HERE. The album is available on DiscRevolt HERE.
