It was a beautiful Sunday evening at Piedmont Park on Sunday July 26th. The Park Tavern stage was set with the support of 105.7 and the crowd was pumped to see Brother Hawk close out the night. As I listened to Brother Hawk play their opening song, it brought me back to when I was 8 years old and started to fall in love with Classic Rock.
The hour-plus set was full of energy. I could really feel the passion that these cats have for their craft. There wasn’t a dull moment. And as the crowd thought the show was over, they cheered, “MORE! MORE!” And there was more!
When the show was over, the band exited the stage and didn’t hide or go into some special VIP section. They came out into the crowd and met their fans/supporters.

I had the pleasure of asking these cool, down-to-earth guys some questions:
B: Who is Brother Hawk?
“Brother Hawk is a band of four friends who like to make loud, beautiful music.”
B: How long have you been making our ears hear sweet soul-full music?
“ We formed in 2010 and started playing shows in 2011.”
B: What gave you the inspiration for your current album “Live from Pack Live Recording”?
“The Pack Life session was initially supposed to be demos, then it kind of morphed into the idea of doing a live session and releasing videos of it.”
B: What message do you want to send to your fans/ listeners?
“We’ve always felt that our music is a very different experience live so we wanted to show fans that haven’t been able to see us a little bit of what that’s like. The only message we have for our fans is Love. Be open to love and value your experiences in this life.”
B: Is there another project in the works?
“We just finished recording ten songs, one never released and the rest are improved versions of material from our previous three EPs, songs that we love and felt deserved a proper recording and release. We hope to release it by the end of the year!”

When I think about the direction that the music scene in Atlanta has followed for the past year and a half, Hip Hop and Rap have been the focus. I had a great time listening to music that reminded why I became a music lover 20 years ago. I hope that we continue to see this influence and this sound all around the city!
