If you pay attention to Atlanta music and bands then you have undoubtedly heard of Gringo Star. Over the past 4-5 years they have quickly risen from Atlanta favorites to world travelers, playing shows across continents. We had a chance to ask the band a few questions about their future and playing the Meltasia Music and Camping Festival here in Georgia in early September. Get tickets to the festival below.
B: Are you looking forward to the Meltasia Festival? Do you know what day you play yet?
Yeah it should be fun. I’ve actually been really wanting to play a “camp out” festival lately, and this popped up, and its a lot of our friends and stuff, so we’re pretty pumped up for it.
B: You recently toured overseas – can you tell us a little about that experience…how did it go? What was your favorite place? Where were you the most well received?
Actually, we just toured the USA and it went great! We’re playing a couple new guys, Ray Jackson on guitar/bass/vocals and Jonathon Bragg on the drums. The band has actually never felt better. We had a blast. There were a bunch of good shows, New Haven, NYC, Cincinnati, but if I had to pick one, Rochester was really awesome. It was pretty much sold out and on a Tuesday night. We’ve been having great shows up there the last couple years. Really cool town.
B: Any news on the future of Gringo Star you can share?
Well, we have a new 7″ done and will be releasing via this label, but we’ve not announced it yet….plan to soon though. we have a bunch of tour dates for oct, nov and beyond. psyched on the new songs. we’re also working on a new full length we hope to have finished before the end of the year.
