On the band: REVERENDS are an Atlanta band founded in 2012 by Dandy Lee Strickland and Kyle Jones. Guitarist Nicky Bable was found via a Craiglist ad seeking guitarists who could play “Weird Fucking Chinese Shit”. Nicky had been e-mailing Dandy Lee Strickland and Hot Dan Strickland at the same time not realizing they were two different people who had posted two different ads. When he figured it out Nicky and Hot Dan completed the line-up. It was later discovered that Dandy Lee and Hot Dan are cousins.
The band is currently finishing-up their debut record with production help from Matt Hollywood. The record features guest contributions from members of the Brian Jonestown Massacre, Spectrum and Mazzy Star.
Lyrics:
I drove to your house and you pretended that you weren’t home
You never answered me on the telephone
and you are impressed by things I cannot condone
where did we go wrong?
You know I never really dug this scene
And people like you make me wonder why I even try
I spent so many years and you weren’t even on my side
And I wasn’t impressed when I went and found you there
$70 gone
And you know this really, never was my scene
(no it ain’t)
When I needed it I requested help from you
to get be off the floor and back into view
I thought you were the one who knew but you aren’t
wouldn’t that be funny if it were true?
And you are the reason that I cannot cry
even that time you nearly made me die
I need assistance you know these things
guess I’d better work the system…
And you know this really never was my scene
(no it ain’t)
I never knew I’d get so close to you
with all the bullshit you done put me through
there’s people talkin’ did you hear what they’d say?
