Phossy Jaw on FaCeBoOK
Phossy Jaw has long been a beatlanta favorite in Atlanta. We’ve heard all their music and seen them live at least 4-5 times at this point. They always bring the energy and fun to any show and that translates into their new self titled release. The instrumental opening track “Rising” sets a moody tone before the album races into the ominous and angst filled “Artificial Life.” “Broken Teeth” sets new ground with a Mike Patton-esque opening and heavy guitar riffing before sending you into a rage filled harmonious breakdown. The album continues from their with a genre defying, multi-faceted joy ride of awesome breakout guitar solos, euphonious and airy vocals and funky bass riffs. The album mixes an alternative style with a sometimes heavy, almost industrial sounding approach to its arrangements allowing Phossy Jaw to put its range of styles and influences on strong display. From alt-rock to shoegaze to metal to punk, Phossy Jaw has it all. Other album highlights for me: The loud and crass “Gringo Shuffle” and the chillness of “Landing.” Stream and then buy the album below.

from the band about the album:
“Phossy Jaw’s first self-titled full length, filled with raw emotion and powerful soundscapes. Recorded well over a year’s time, the album is a perfect sum of everything that Phossy Jaw has cultivated during their time together as people and musicians.
