Surrogates released their single “Between” on 12/15/2013 at the Blood Drunk Records Showcase…
pay something if you can…
Mike, Tony, and Matt got together in 2012 with the intention to create something loud, fast, and weird. They spent a year experimenting with space.punk tunes and honing their musical chops, establishing themselves in the Atlanta scene and earning a slot on the Blood Drunk Records roster along the way. In early 2013, the three dropped an EP with the label under the moniker Duende. They gave the …disc out by the hundreds and developed a loyal following of some of the raddest dudes and lady-dudes in Georgia. Then, inspired by the talented and innovative experimental bands they had shared the stage with, the three decided to take their musicianship and songwriting to the next level. In order to do this they decided they would need a singer. Haseena Peera has made waves for herself in Atlanta as an artist (www.artbyhaseena.com) and musician (www.thelittleboxes.com).
She and Mike worked together briefly on a music promotion project known as The SoundServ in 2012, so when it came time to audition singers for the new project she was one of the first to be contacted. She was a perfect fit from the beginning and was quickly asked to join the new project.
Surrogates are currently proving to Atlanta that they are greater than the sum of their parts by getting passionately sweaty onstage at various venues, hovels, and basements around town. Their first single will be released through Blood Drunk Records near the end of 2013, along with a tune written for an upcoming Blood Drunk Records holiday compilation. The group plans to release an EP in 2014. A local showcase and regional tour are to follow.
