Band Profile Meltasia Edition: ‘Bummer’s Eve’

Bummers Eve is the disenchanted apathy of sound ringing in the midwest brain of Pure Mike Cipollone. The pleasantries of his life have long passed away but the genuine sweetness of Kentucky’s alfalfa fields and blackberry patches are still alive in the darkest corners of his mind. A dedication to all things sad, dead, and dumb are delivered through acid phasered fuzz. Catchy songs in reverence to drugs, death, disease, and girls will leave you happily uncomfortable and lost in the constant, unforgiving swirl of static punk noise.

Tommy Lee on the band:’Bummers Eve started playing about a year ago in Cincinnati. My friend
Chad Hardwick was throwing a 4th of July party (Bad Bad Chads Rad Pad)
and a couple friends bands were playing it. I (Mike Cipollone) asked
my friend in Cincy (Victor Valentino/The Virgins) if he wanted to
learn bass and play in a fun band. I enlisted a semi-friend to play
the drums (who is no longer playing with us) and we played the show.
There was some interest immediately in the band so we ran with it.
Our objective was too smoke as much weed as possible and still be able
to play. That led to us buying a lot of phasers, and that is our
current sound. The weed intake has fallen for some of us, but all the
sounds have stayed pretty static.

We released a tape on Hard Body Sounds which was recorded by our
friend Jerri Queen (Drummer in Tweens, Frenchkiss Records, and
Vacation) titled Pleasure Isle. It sold out quickly. We will be
releasing the tape and putting out another on Lets Pretend Record for
the tour. We are also in talks with Harry Howes at Almost Ready
Records (Liquor Store, Natural Child, Nobunny, 1 800 Band) regarding a
full length to be released end of year-ish. We are currently
recording the rest of the album. Harry was our connection to Meltasia
and we are super stoked. He has been a huge help booking shows and
spreading our name around. I cant thank him enough. We love playing
to people like us, and it seems like Meltasia is the perfect place for
a bunch of dirtbags to go on a bender together.’
