(Update 2.14.12 – Wes Swing and his band made their goal of $12,000 for their project)
“Dear All,
Happy 2012!! I’m writing to tell you a little more about our kickstarter project, but mainly to ask for your help. We have toured with our music throughout 2011, and plan to continue… as a full band! So here are the three main reasons why this french fry cello mobile project is important to us:
1) we want to tour as a full band with drums, violin, upright bass, cello, and more! (we’ll need a van for this)
2) in touring as a full band, we are concerned about our carbon footprint, so not just any van will do (a van that runs on clean burning bio-fuel is the goal!)
3) we want to share everything we learn about bio-fuel to other independent bands
Kickstarter is an all or nothing deal, and there is less than a month to go, so we really need your help with this! Pledging to the project definitely helps, but simply posting the project link http://wesswing.com/kickstarter as a Facebook post with a sentence or two about why folks should support would also be an enormous help! As part of our project, we have been offering classes with the Charlottesville trade school. See below for a picture from out looping class.
In kickstarter related news, we’ll be performing our project finale show in Charlottesville, VA, on Friday, February 3 @ The Southern with the full band!! All proceeds from this show will go to our bio-fuel project. There will be music, art and multimedia from Bolanle Adeboye (an amazing artist who painted our album cover artwork), and the lovely Sarah Siskind will open! If you have friends or family in the area, you can direct them here for tickets.
One more thing… We have 3 radio dates coming up, and you can tune in online!
Thursday, Jan 26 @ around 5 pm EST – WTJU 91.1 fm
Monday, Jan 30 @ 1 pm EST- 106.1 fm
Wednesday, Feb 1 @ 9 am EST – WNRN
Thank you all for your continued support over the past couple of years. I feel moved by the thoughtfulness our listeners, and you all make this possible!
all best,
Wes”
