A: The Color put on a crazy awesome performance at Hijacking the Holidays last month. The band is Zach Beachum and Ethan Gabriel Jack with different folks joining them live. Ethan’s angelic look with light bursting from his robe along with the sonic elements roaring through his mic provided the quintessential holiday feel. Zach’s guitar playing was filled with hendrix-esque breakdowns and smooth progressive solos that would please the most discriminating of fans. It was prophetic, cosmic even. These guys have a great sound and a unique voice. Really reminds me of Queens of the Stone Age. The start of this first video pretty much lays out the feel of the entire set…
A: The Color is currently planning a sizable tour and intend to make some things happen for themselves in 2011 (their current facebook status reads: “Let it be clear, This year is THE year.”). I think they have a chance of gaining good momentum. Their attitudes are in the right spot, their sound is tight and they already have a nice local following that fills the floor. They released their debut LP “A: The Genreless Album” in March 2010 on their own Relover Records. But it at CD Baby here.
We’re going to try to hook up an interview with these guys soon so hopefully you can look out for that. We’ll find out more about their plans for the tour and 2011.
