from his press release: Patrick is a blues-rock musician from Akron, OH and was in a band with Dan Auerbach before he started the Black Keys. Last summer, Patrick Sweany released a new album Close To The Floor to critical praise. Writing in the Nashville Scene, Edd Hurt said “Sweany is a modern bluesman with a songwriting knack – a rare combination… [his] sincerity is beautiful and he shouldn’t change a thing…Sweany was featured in Relix, American Songwriter, CMT Edge, and was even called a “soon-to-be-legendary guitar man” by Rolling Stone following his performance at the Newport Folk Festival last year.
I was given a copy of his latest album mentioned above and it sounds pretty rad. Rock hard blues that reminds you of that old school blues you only hear on oldies stations. He is playing at Smith’s next week and you should check it out. RSVP and Details for the show here.
