by Adam Keen … Interview by Marina Yelensky…
We sat down with a couple more artists from our Beatlanta House Show Festival on July 11th, 2015 to ask them a couple questions.
TRENDZ MORRISON
B: Who is Trendz Morrison?
Trendz Morrison is a man of many things. A artist, a painter, a designer, a king, a educator, a hustler, a believer and a dreamer, a risk taker, a father, a story teller im bad!
B: Where is Trendz Morrison from?
Omaha Nebraska and raised in Miami Florida… I’m from both places I spent A lot of years in both places.
B: How would you describe your sound?
I really can’t describe it, what I will say is I like to think that I’m just an instrument to the beat…
B: When do you plan to release your next project?
Yo be honest I going to drop a few things but the main project will be out the first week or October… -Rï€H-
SOS – SOS is a brand new band still getting their social profiles together so we don’t have any links yet.
SOS is Chris Jacobson, Jake Harbour and Cindy Xu Cao.
B: Where did you get the name SOS?
When we were looking for a name, we wanted something short, simple and memorable. I’d like to say there was big background story of how we got to it, but really it was an 11th hour decision so we could get on the BeAtlanta festival’s flyer! We think the name was a subconscious appreciation of the Police’s Message in a Bottle, but even that’s just a shot in the dark of an explanation. Where it came from is really anyone’s guess, but in any case we think it’s a good fit and it will probably stick.
B: Tell me about your band members.
Jake is the guitarist, keyboardist and singer for SOS. He’s been a musician all his life is currently in the middle of a songwriting project to write 200 songs by June 2016. He takes inspiration from 70’s rock, 90’s grunge, post-punk and garage rock revival bands like the Killers, White Stripes, Kings of Leon and the Strokes.
Chris is the bassist for SOS. He was an active musician back in his high school days, but took a long hiatus in college to focus on his drinking studies. He’s a lucid dreamer and a writer trying to get back in the music scene. He takes a lot of inspiration from prog-rock, post-rock, electronica, post-punk revival, and a guilty pleasure for pop-punk.
?
Cindy is the drummer for SOS. She’s been a percussionist since middle school. Once a timpanist in high school, and a rock band drummer in college. She takes inspiration from post-rock, trip-hop, electronic, and classical. And she has been inspired by Tony Williams’s quote “Playing fast around drums is one thing. But to play music, to play with people for others to listen to, that’s something else.”
B: How would you describe your sound?
Honestly, we are still trying to find our sound. Every time we jam, we get a bit closer to realizing it, but in it’s definitely in its infancy. We have appreciation of a ton of different genres and have pretty diverse backgrounds –it’s all kind of fusing together. If we had to explain it now, we’d probably say ‘Alternative Rock’ because that’s a nice nebulous blob of ambiguity.
B: When do you plan to release an album?
At the moment we are just trying to get out there, get some listeners and find places to play. As we keep writing music and maturing as a band, we’ll start thinking about a proper album. We’ve got a pretty good demo tape and will be bringing a ton to the festival and handing them out for free. I hope everyone takes one with them, gives it a listen, shares it with their friends and give us feedback. All news is good news!
