(More info)On the song: ‘In 2010, I had the opportunity to go to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico for a study abroad creative writing workshop that’s part of my grad school program. I used to go hang out on the rooftop of this hostel that I was staying at and write or talk to the other writers about their work, and there was this sense of community among all of us. So the song, “Rooftops” was born out of this idea that when we come together as artists (or just as people in general), it allows us to transcend the mundane and the difficulties that life brings with us. It’s really a song about how art and connection with others can make you immortal, in a sense. ‘
Lyrics:
After all this time,
We find ourselves on the rooftops,
Looking down at the cities below,
We celebrate the images
we create,
We throw our fortunes into the sea,
And we emerge, singing
Heartache is over now,
We are so alive
Heartache is over now,
We will never die
It’s over now, we are so alive
Heartache is over now,
We will never die,
Never dieIt’s all a dream to me if we just
Leave it behind
I hope that you will help me to
Remember it all
