Taste/Flavor: Earthy, Roasted Malts, Chocolate
Body/Mouthfeel: Creamy
First Taste: It pours really dark brown with a creamy head that leaves slowly while hanging to the glass and eventually forming a nice layer of beige on top of the beer. It smells like malty chocolate and sweet, but balanced. The taste is very earthy with chocolate and roasted malt tones. It is very hoppy for a porter and is on the verge of being called a black IPA. The brewery says that this beer is more reminiscent of the ports from a hundred years ago than those made today. As this beer warm in the glass the smell and taste of earth and chocolate become more prominent. It is very creamy with medium carbonation. ABV is 8%, this is a high gravity beer.
