Here’s what Yoshi and the Yoshi Crew had to say when I asked about the future (interview from 2016):
B: What inspired your new mixtape “Goofi Juice 2 Double Cup” ?
Goofi Juice 2 was inspired by the drink. But as proven in the first mixtape installment Goofi juice the mixtape, it is more than a drink but a way of life a new way of looking at things. Google juices to drink that I created it contains 29 flavors 15 of the flavors have fruit I have been perfecting the flavors for almost 10 years ?Hosted by Dj Lynx this tape will surpass its previous tape.
B: Who is Yoshi? What projects do you have planned for 2016?
Yoshi is The Cat in the Hat that can rap just a gamer that because due to life circumstances had to do some gangsta stuff From Cincinnati Ohio currently living in Atlanta with a mass flow of influences. Such as rock metal alternative Hip Hop EDM trap underground grunge and other styles. I speak for the Gamers, weirdos, Anime lovers etc. In 2016 I have a couple of projects getting ready – A crew tape Titled “Tales from the Mushroom Kingdom” and I have a few more Goofi Juice Parties planned before this year is out. Plus the “indie tape 2” which drops on 420 presented by Hiphop_everything.
TRAPPIN THE RAP MASTER:
B: Where do you think Hip Hop is going? Is 2016 bringing something new to the table?
Hip Hop has always been a form of expression for the people. It has always been used to express one’s feeling about a particular subject whether it be in the streets, in school or whether it has some political view or rebellious nature; it will always remain Hip Hop as long as people are still true to its purpose.
B: Tell me about Yoshi Crew. What all has Yoshi Crew accomplished this year so far and what’s to come?
Yoshi crew is a collective of people; a lot of people are Yoshi crew and don’t even know it. Yoshi crew stands for Unity. The Super Nintendo classic Super Mario World best displays what we are about in a nutshell. Just like the ocean we as people are many different colors with many different abilities. But if you remember Star World… you need every Yoshi in order to beat it. They must work together despite their color or ability to achieve the main goal and that’s what Yoshi crew cares about.
B: ”Re-up” featuring Westside-Slim was a song that brought up a topic that people can’t deny! Was there a special lady that inspired this song?
“Re-up” was composed by Westside Slim who is currently changing his name to Slim Collier. It didn’t have a particular lady as inspiration. Slim picked Y0$#! for the track based off his singing ability as well as his dope flows and metaphors. It was not dedicated to a particular lady it was dedicated to the thought and the feeling. Love is the over all message.
B: What inspires you to make music?
Pure creativity is what inspires me to make music; finding words phrases and finding new ways to express life. Life is so interesting and full of unexpected surprises and bumps in the road. Days full of sunshine followed by days full of rain. Expressing my story to people that can actually relate to it without having to compromise myself. Watching the looks of connections better made just by people relating to the track or line, freestyle or verse. Overall, having the power of creation is what makes me want to create music even more.
B: What’s the goal for all of the work that you do?
My goal is to change the way that you look at thing. Its that simple, I want to let people know that it’s okay to think outside the box and that there are people that may feel just like them, but some are just afraid. Some feel they have no voice. I represent the Nerds, weirdos and losers and all of the people that don’t fit in the cool society. I am their voice. I’m not afraid to speak up and speak for those who feel that just because they hold a particular image that they cannot be cool by being who they are. That its all great, say you don’t have to flex to kick it. That is the Mantra that I strive to uphold…With my Goofy gamer influenced straight back music that even the hood supports.

BIO: Y0$#! (Yoshi) birth name Christopher Jackson, was born in Cincinnati Ohio. His interest in music started at the age of 12 but it wasn’t until he turned 16 that he starting rapping. Once Y0$#! turned 17, he moved to Atlanta and began networking, perfecting his word play and learning the tricks of the trade. Now 27, Yoshi has experiences, stories to talk about and a sound that the music industry is missing. Using a diverse group of genres to express himself musically, Yoshi is a step above the competition with his seamless ability to switch flows, pace and attitude while performing (booth or stage). This artist is not limited to just Hip-Hop. In Y0$#! you can find similarities to Big KRIT, Young Jeezy, Linkin Park, Blink 182, David Banner and Pastor Troy all in one. Y0$#! also works in sound design as he can vocally mimic almost any sound including those of the music and film industry. When producing and creating mixtape drops, his voice is usually mistaken for samples, giving him yet another competitive advantage.
Y0$#! has been everywhere, from the stages of SXSW, Auburn Festival, A3C and many local stages around Atlanta, including:
dHole in the wall (Buckhead), Erosol a.k.a Department Store/The Sound Table-Space 2/Music Room (Edgewood). Enclave/ Nu Radio(Midtown), Union/ I-Lounge/The Gallery (East Atlanta Village), Winston Cigars/Harlem Nights/ Royal Peacock (Downtown), Trap-a-velli/Omen Agency/N.D.O-No Days Off Radio (Peter St.)
He has released 2 mixtapes “Dr. Jack Mr. Highed” which dropped on Datpiff with 21k+ streams and 10k+ downloads. The Second mix tape is “Goofi Juice The Mixtape.”
Mainly in the local inner city and out-of-city raves, yeah, Y0$#! Hearts RAVES. You can catch him live. To prove Y0$#!’s gift he released a song called “Song about anything” in which he is non-restricted to just providing one type of genre and goes outside the box with it. He’s spontaneous like that. Why? Because Y0$#! is all about creating good vibes and great memories; music that encourages people to meet, turn up and avoid any social boundaries or racial standards. Inspired by the hardships of life and the power of hope for love, happiness and peace, he is similar to an average day hippie, who wanders from land to land spreading his message, “We could have a good time and turn up without violence.” That is his goal, to bring people together again with the power of music, like in the old days.
